29/12/33 · Met een speelduur van 127 minuten is Amour niet absurd lang (de gemiddelde blockbuster schrikt niet terug voor zo n speelduur) maar het is voor deze film overduidelijk een half uur te veel. Doordat Haneke het aftakelingsproces van Anne in elk detail laat zien valt hij gaandeweg steeds meer in herhaling, waardoor verveling op de loer ligt. It is a testament to the film that despite the Haneke's typical coldness and distance, and the hermetic, bourgeois leads, Amour is still painfully affecting. It keys into the awkwardness and embarrassment of losing bodily control.
